ProTect Owner Gives Back to Deployed Soldier & Family

The brave men and women in our armed forces sacrifice everything to keep this country safe. At ProTect Painters of Saint Paul, we arehumbled by their service. That is why when owner Del Simonson—a retired Army veteran—received the opportunity to give back, he readily agreed. As a whole, we try to support as many veteran organizations as we can.

ProTect Painters partnered with the Saint Paul Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network to help the family of a deployed soldier who was set to return. We helped a family with two young children under the age of ten, whose father is deployed in support of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The service member broke his leg prior to leaving on duty, rendering him incapable of getting the house ready for his 400-day absence. With her spouse deployed, the wife struggled to stay on top of basic upkeep around the home, which included painting the exterior.

Our team enlisted help from Hirshfield’s, a local paint company, who donated all the paint we needed for the project. They also provided their top color consultant to come out to work with the family and our team for the color selection process. We also received a grant to help cover some of the labor expenses and donated the supplies and management fees for the project.

Our team dedicated time and energy to make sure the family received the home of their dreams. We painted the exterior with a beautiful gray paint that transformed the family’s house into a modern haven of rest. We are happy we were able to play this small role in boasting servicemember happiness—especially considering how much they serve their community and their country on a daily basis.
